Councillor Marc Reyer Grant passed away suddenly on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Marc was a dedicated public servant, a passionate community advocate, a loyal friend and, above all, a devoted father and partner. He cared deeply about Oakville and the people who called it home.
Whether he was helping a resident, supporting a neighbourhood initiative, encouraging a local organization or simply making someone laugh, Marc brought kindness, compassion and his unmistakable sense of humour to everything he did.
His passing has left an enormous void in the lives of his family, friends, Council colleagues and the countless people whose lives he touched.
Help Continue Marc’s Legacy
The Marc Grant Memorial Fund has been established to honour Marc’s life and continue his commitment to helping others.
Donations to the fund will support charitable programs, organizations and community initiatives that reflect the causes Marc cared about and the values by which he lived.
Marc believed in showing up for people. He believed in community, friendship, fairness and helping wherever he could. Through this fund, his spirit of service will continue to make a meaningful difference.

About Marc
Marc served the people of Oakville as a Town Councillor and was a tireless advocate for the residents he represented.
He approached public service with sincerity, determination and a genuine desire to help. He was never afraid to speak his mind, stand up for someone who needed support or find a little humour during even the most difficult moments.
To those who knew him personally, Marc was much more than a public figure. He was a trusted colleague, a cherished friend and someone who loved his family deeply.
Marc left us far too soon, but the difference he made will endure.
A Lasting Tribute
The Marc Grant Memorial Fund is administered by Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre, a registered Canadian charity created by the community for the community.
Decisions concerning the distribution of funds will be made in accordance with the charitable purposes, policies and governance requirements of Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre, while honouring Marc’s values and community legacy.
